I have painted a number of 'Geometric Abstracts'over the years and I am very proud that they are now hanging in art collections around the world: Sydney, Melbourne, London, Edinburgh, New York, The Hamptons and Florida to name some of their most glamourous destinations to date.
My 'Geometric Abstract' paintings are unashamedly a nod to the abstract paintings by the great master Mark Rothko who has always been a huge inspiration for me. On my travels around the globe, I always make a b-line for any national art galleries that exhibit his work.
Mark Rothko is best known for his' color field' paintings which depicted irregular and painterly rectangular regions of color, which he produced from 1949 to 1970 (Wikipedia).
Rothko's abstract paintings always drawn me in and make me want to take a moment to pause and it is this feeling that I hope to replicate with my own paintings.
Although I call the paintings geometric, they are painted loosely and freely. I am creating a semblance of order which the human eye is naturally drawn to; but what I personally enjoy trying to create is a beauty that radiates from the colours themselves. "
