Michael is a Scottish artist who paints with various medium particularly watercolour, pastels, oils and acrylics. His subject matter for his paintings is wide and varied including landscapes, seascapes and wildlife.
Michael's painting style varies according to his subject matter. He strives to obtain a vibrancy of colour in his landscape paintings using a loose expressive approach. However, he is also able to turn his artistic repertoire to detail and precision. His popular wildlife paintings and illustrations have appeared in numerous articles and books.
Michael also teaches art overseas and much of artistic inspiration comes from his teaching in Greece, Spain, Italy and Morocco. He also leads art classes at home. When not teaching overseas, Michael loves spending time sketching and painting around the Scottish islands, particularly Islay, Barra, Bute and of course Arran, all of which have a major influence on his artwork.
