Arran Barn Owl
Chris was born in Derbyshire in 1965 and first came to Arran on Holiday when he was 18 months where he ate sand on Brodick beach; the place has been in his blood ever since.
Having trained as an architectural technician he eventually moved to the island in 1993. Amongst other jobs, Chris was the property manager a Brodick Castle for a while.
Chris has painted and sculpted from his teens; self-taught - having fallen out with most of his Art teachers at school due his insistence on adding a lot of detail to his work.
Chris is a keen birdwatcher and naturalist (and very quirkily a lover of Dragons) and this is reflected in his artwork.
When Nick Giles opened Arran Art Gallery in 2005, Chris was working for the National Trust and he organised the annual Brodick Castle Art Exhibition for many years. Chris displayed his own work in the exhibition and his very detailed watercolour paintings of birds, animals and dragons quickly sold out year after year. As a very keen bird watcher himself, Nick has greatly admired Chris's work ever since and is now absolutely delighted to be able to exhibit Chris's very beautifully detailed artwork in Arran Art Gallery.
The gallery now stocks originals and limited edition prints of Chris's artwork.
