A hand sculpted seal head inspired by the seals around the island.
The seal head is made from 'Buff Raku Trachyte' clay which is unique to Australia. It contains local lava rock which when fired at a high temperature creates a speckled natural effect. The seal head is fired at a high temperature so is safe to display inside or outside, even in the winter.
The artist creates a few pieces each summer. Commissions are welcome.

The island has a healthy population of seals. Most of Arran's seals are common seals and pup in June, however there are some grey seals which pup during the autumn.
Where to find seals: - Seal car-park at Merkland, just north of Brodick near the castle gates. - The shore at Kildonan (south end of village) - Newton Shore at Lochranza
Remember not to get too close as you will disturb them while they are trying to rest on the rocks. If they start fidgeting then you are too close!
