Wendy Kilroe

Wendy was born and educated in Norwich and after a short time working at the BBC in London, returned to spend the next 27 years on the production side of her local ITV station based in Norwich. From here she was lucky enough to travel to many other countries working on a great variety of programmes. In 1996 she took voluntary redundancy and continued on a freelance basis working in Norwich and London. During this time she took a year out to study Garden Design and Horticulture, gardening being one of her passions. Wendy was first introduced to Arran by her brother and over the years had made many return visits both enjoying the beauty of the scenery and feeling the magic of the island. Her dream of retiring to the Arran one day seemed almost impossible.

However, in 2002 the opportunity arose and she moved to Arran to start her new life. She joined the Arran Visual Arts Society who holds a variety of interesting and fun courses and workshops throughout the year. She gained her interest in seascapes and oils from one such course run by Scottish artist Ed Hunter whose work she greatly admires. She also attends weekly evening classes at the High School and life drawing classes with a local professional artist.

Wendy has sold at exhibitions through the AVA at Kilmory and at Brodick Castle and also from Arran Art Gallery owned by Nick Giles who she says has given her tremendous encouragement.
