Richard Neilson

Richard lives in Edinburgh and studied drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art. He works in various media including Oil, Acrylic, Gouache, Watercolour and Pastel. Richard is a keen student of colour theory and composition, but also recognises the importance of an instinctive 'feel' for the subject without which a painting has no life.

His subjects vary and include anything which excites him because of the colour, or the play of light and shade, whether it be highland cottage, a backlit sheep or a still life arrangement. Richard is particularly fond of the West Coast of Scotland and the Western Isles where he and his wife frequently spend holidays. These areas provide inspiration for much of his landscape work.

We are open 7 days a week, 10am to 5pm, with a quick 30min lunch break around 1pm.
