David Aitcheson

David Aitcheson

Born in Glasgow in 1940, David is a self-taught artist. His first professional mural work was for Reo Sakis Organisation. He attended the Glasgow Drama College in 1961 where he trained in stage design/scenic art. From the 1960's to 1974, he worked in stage design and decoration, technical and graphic arts, industrial design works and had commissioned art works.

David moved to Arran in 1974. For the next ten years, he did graphic arts, architectural drawings and screen paintings. He was the youth co-coordinator for the Arran Community Arts Group. During that same period, he was commissioned for stage design, did video/film camera work and freelance print work. From 1984-89, he studied archaeology, metaphysics and History of Art at Edinburgh University. He has an MA (Honours). Since 1990, he has focused on photography, landscapes and cityscapes, and natural history. David is also a writer. David states: I am a compulsive though not prodigious artist, working, exhibiting and selling my art work on Arran.
