Edinburgh Art Fair

The Corn Exchange - Fri 17th to Sun 19th Nov-17 (Preview Evening Thurs 16th)

The gallery owner and our summer resident artist, Nick Giles has been invited to exhibit at the Edinburgh Art Fair with Nexus Art, a collective of international artists.  The Art Fair attracts around 13,000 visitors over 3 days and the gallery staff are excited to be involved in this prestigious event.

Nick is currently engaged in painting a large body of work for the exhibition. We will be showcasing his bold and vibrant abstracted landscape paintings on glass that are inspired by the natural beauty of both Scotland and Australia.  By painting in this medium, he is able to create artwork with strong luminescent colour, evoking the impact of his chosen landscapes; and the natural drama of the islands and the sea are his favourite subject matter.

As a keen ornithologist and bird photographer, Nick has chosen to paint islands that are not only Scottish landmarks but also sanctuaries for many of the world’s most interesting, rare and vulnerable bird species. His work has focused on the islands of Arran, Ailsa Craig, the Isle of May and the Bass Rock, where he visited while at school in Edinburgh and was involved in ringing young Gannet chicks that ensued a lifelong fascination in birds.

Find us next to the Champagne bar.  We hope to see you there.
