Nikki is a local artist who was born and brought up on Arran. Her mother's family date back to the 13th century with amongst her many relatives the Corrie artists Donald and Hugh Paton and Avril Paton, famous for her depictions of Glasgow tenements.
After training as a retail display artist Nikki returned to Arran to work with potter Alastair Dunn before getting married and bringing up three daughters. Having been busy tending to her children for many years it was only five years ago when they all flew the nest that Nikki returned to school and completed an Art Higher course gaining an 'A' pass thus fuelling her desire to start drawing and painting which had always been a passion.
Nikki's main influences over the years are Georgia O'Keefe, Joan Eardley and Jessie King, all of which she read and studied while doing the Art Higher.magical scenery, wildlife and the ever changing weather are always going to be subjects which inspire Nikki but travelling abroad has also brought about many memories which she has scribbled down into little sketch pads hopefully to be developed!
Nikki currently lives with her husband in Whiting Bay assisting him with his furniture building business. Nikki also sings in a Rhythm & Blues band in local pubs and loves touring anywhere on her red Ducati motorcycle!
