Arran Sunset from Portencross
Open Edition Print
Andy grew up in the West Coast of Scotland and finds inspiration from both urban and rural influences on his daily life. Having had a lifelong interest in painting, Andy is a full-time artist and began exhibiting and selling his artwork in 2002.
"We always place our own thoughts, feeling and experiences on the things that we view and in turn re-imagine them through art and my work is the product of this."
Andy's focus on buildings, geometric shapes and abstract photography reflects the influence that Glasgow's rich diversity of culture and architecture has had on him throughout his life. He uses street art and graphic design techniques along with the experimental use of traditional and non-traditional mediums to express the beauty of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Andy works with a variety of mediums including oil paint, acrylic paint, spray paint and acrylic ink.
Andy is happy to do commissions on a small or large scale. His commissions have included landscape paintings on canvas, abstract photography, theatre backdrops and wall murals. Commissioned abstract photography of Glasgow buildings are on display in the BAA domestic departure lounge at Glasgow airport.
Andy currently exhibits work of Glencoe in The National Trust for Scotland Visitor Centre in Glencoe, and has previously displayed work in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum's Café Restaurant.
