Arran Pebbles Silk Scarf
Amanda works with her own photographs to create some beautiful images that have been expertly printed on silk in collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Textiles at the Glasgow School of Art.
"I have an enduring love of Arran having been introduced to this glorious island more than 30 years ago by my husband. We have enjoyed many holidays walking, climbing, cycling and sailing on and around this island. Leaving was always tinged with sadness and a longing to return.
In a single, shared moment of clarity a couple of years ago, we knew this was where we wanted to make our home. Last summer we made the leap and have been made truly welcome by our friends on the island.
There is a sense of community here, a spirit that is hard to pin down, but I think it springs from the natural beauty of the landscape, the seascapes, the wildlife and is felt in the warm, innovative, hard-working and resilient nature of the people who live here.
I gaze in awe at the big scenery and I also enjoy the small natural beauty that waits to be discovered. Each time I take a walk I can't help but notice the island beauty up close in the detail of the pebbles, mosses, trees, flowers and rock formations.
It is exciting to create designs inspired by this natural beauty, experimenting with different processes and mediums and importantly to work in partnership with other local people who have experience and expertise in printing.
I hope you enjoy the rich diversity of small treasures on Arran as much as I do."
