Autumn Evening, Ailsa Craig
Kevin is an artist living and working in Perthshire. His main themes are Scottish landscape/seascape from the west coast, the Highlands and occasionally the east coast; and even more occasionally the Mediterranean.works in oil paint, using mainly palette knives to create a rich textured effect with undiluted colours.
"I remember travelling around Scotland as a child and being amazed and enchanted by the wild places, villages, cottages, harbours, scenery and landscape; by the dramatic colours, moods and atmosphere.moving to the countryside as a adult, I have tried to rediscover the immediacy of those first perceptions and to re-engage with the child-like sense of discovery and adventure.
Ultimately, I wish my art to be enjoyed and to enrich people and spaces with fresh perception, enlivening colour and ingenuity. It is also an attempt to contribute to a contemporary Scottish artistic language that gives visual expression to uniquely Scottish themes."
